A Heart for Hats
If you visit Hilltop Manor in Arnold’s Cove, NL on any day of the week, you will likely find this resident knitting hats. Ethel Williams, age 92, has been knitting hats for the Janeway for 20 years. She began knitting hats for babies at the Janeway and then for the cancer society.
Five years ago Mrs. Williams began knitting hats for The Gathering Place. In 2020 she donated 24 hats, the following year 48 hats and last year she donated 85 hats. Not only was Mrs. Williams inspired to donate hats but she also knit finger puppets for kids at the Janeway. Last year she knitted and donated 200 finger puppets to brighten the day for 200 children in the hospital.
Mrs. Williams has a heart for people that have a need to keep warm in the colder seasons. Hats are the perfect way to meet those needs; they are a very personal, thoughtful and timeless gift that can change the world one stitch at a time. No matter the time of year, you can find Mrs. Williams at Hilltop Manor in her room, lobby or hall…knitting hats.
